What is

Climate Justice?

climate justice addresses the disparities in our communities health and environment. it connects the climate crisis to the social, racial and environmental issues we face. climate change disproportionately impacts the environment in low-income and BIPOC communities around the world,

often leaving the consequences to the people and places least responsible for the problem.

“la injusticia medioambiental es una amenaza para la seguridad de nuestra communidad.”

-Sergio Cira-Reyes
Climate Justice Catalyst

climate justice matters because your environment is your everything! the climate is directly impacted by the way we treat the environments we live in. large companies leave damage due to production, waste and transportation and the massive amounts of pollution caused by those industries can be directly linked to the quality of life and health in frontline communities around the world.

we believe justice is bringing substantial resources and innovative solutions to addressing the issues frontline communities face. we believe it is time for equitable development, and redistribution of funds to do so. we believe it is well passed the time for transparency, regulation and accountability. we are committed to gaining insight from The People of Grand Rapids to bring necessary change to our climate and the city we call home.

why does climate justice matter?

we have much to lose,

and everything to gain.

climate solutions are not a one-size fits all. we can all contribute to being a part of the solution in a myriad of small ways, ranging from individual action to collective, national, or global efforts.

from what we eat and where we source our food to the tools we use to feed ourselves and how we dispose of it when we’re done. every step of the way is a chance to make a difference in the way that best suits you.

-Mother Teresa

“we can’t save the planet without uplifting the voices of its people, especially those most often unheard.”

-Leah Thomas
